Professor Wole Soyinka
WS as he is commonly referred to by his colleagues is a symbol of intellectual pride to aspiring literary egg-heads of African descent. We at the Ibadan University Humanist Society are proud for the fact that Wole was once a student of our school and he laid good precedence and credibility for us.
Soyinka was the first African Humanist to be awarded a Nobel Laurate in Literature and He was conferred with the presitigious Nigeria National Award of Commander of the Order of the Niger CON. WS is our very own and we celebrate him at IUHS.

Dr. Tai Solarin
Uncle Tai is somebody Nigeria and Africa will forever be proud of. He is a humanist of high repute. Though Tai is dead but is works still live in the thousands of students who drank at the fountain of unadulterated educational edifice at May Flower School in Ikenne. He founded May Flower as the first freethought High School in the whole of West Africa. For his immense contribution to intellectual and political development, a school was named after him and the school was later upgraded into a university and that is the Tai Solarin University of Education in Ogun State Nigeria.

Bertrand Russell
Apart from being a member of the famous school known as the logical positivist school of thought in philosophy, Bertrand Russell is known for his great work in his book "Why I am not a Christian", this book as greatly contributed to the intellectual reformation of most IUHS members and we think his picture should be on our photo page.
Peter Adegoke
Our very own Peter Adegoke the founding president of the Ibadan University Humanist Society. He is a great mind with passion for so many things including reading and debating about philosophical and theological matters. Peter is a member of the African Working Group of the International Humanist and Ethical Youth Organisation (IHEYO), He is also on the board of African Humanist Alliance, Peter Adegoke does contact job for Secular Students Alliance. Adegoke is the Project and Campaign Officer for the Women Development Alliance Nigeria and he likes talking about his work at the Transhumanist Student Network. TSN and African Student Transhumanist Network are two organizations that Peter do not like joking with.

Leopold Sedar Senghor
He is the first African Humanist to become the president of a country - Senegal. Senghor is better known for his philosophy of Negritude. We are proud of this great statesman who portray a good image of a humanist to the African populace. IUHS is proud of you.
